Blasting, bingo, pet food & Galentine’s: Seven things to know in Glocester this week

Blasting

The Glocester Police Department is notifying residents of permitted preliminary blasting in the area of 812 Putnam Pike at the Vinagro gravel pit site. Blasting will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 30 between the hours of 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Bingo – times two

Hill’s Tavern at 417 Putnam Pike will host Not your Grandma’s bingo on Wednesday, Jan. 31, brought to you by Athena’s Home Novelties. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. for the 18 plus event with bingo to begin at 6:30 p.m. A $20 donation per person will purchase five bingo cards.

A night of bingo will take place at Chepachet Grange at 28 Chopmist Hill Road on Friday. Feb. 2, with doors to open at 5 p.m. and games starting at 6 p.m. There will be food available and guests can purchase a 10 pack of six cards for $10. No one under age 18 will be permitted in the building.

Newsies, Jr.

Ponaganset Middle School’s drama club will put on Newsies Jr. this weekend, with performances on Friday, Feb. 2 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 3 at 1:30 p.m. Tickets cost $8 and will be available for pre-sale here through Thursday, Feb. 1. If space allows, limited tickets will be sold at the door.

Pet Food Drive

A pet food drive collecting wet and dry food for cats and dogs, treats, kitty litter, puppy pads and chicken feed will be held at Chepachet Union Church at 1138 Putnam Pike on Saturday, Feb. 3 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donations will benefit local families in need who have animals as part of an Eagle Project for a scout with Troop 44.

Galentine’s Day

Brown & Hopkins Country Store at 1179 Putnam Pike will hold a Galentine’s Day celebration on Saturday, Feb. 3 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with everything shoppers need to prepare for their own Galentine’s Parties: cocktail mixers, brunch essentials, girlfriend gifts, and more. The event will also feature giveaways, food and drink samples, and fun photo ops, along with mini hand massages provided by Stacy Ellis from Solitude Massage Therapy until 3 p.m. on a first come, first serve basis. Mulberry Vineyards will offer local wine samples from noon to 2 p.m. and Who Cut the Cheesecake will offer samples including Lemon Blueberry and plain cheesecake, topped with Stonewall Kitchen toppings.

Arlene and Jasmin will offer tarot reading by reservation here, with proceeds to benefit Vintage Pet Rescue.

In case of inclement weather, this event will be postponed to Saturday, Feb. 10.

Fundraiser

Cady’s Tavern at 2168 Putnam Pike hosting a Fundraiser to help Kathy & Sean with the mounting Hospital & Dr copays and Expenses. Kathy is at Brigham & Womans for Treatments of Brain Cancer and lung cancer.. We will be having Raffles, Spaghetti & Meatball Dinner
