BURRILLVILLE – A picture of a boy enjoying the day at Spring Lake Beach in Burrillville was the first place winner in Keep Blackstone Valley Beautiful’s first-ever photo contest, and is now featured in a new calendar highlighting the region’s outdoor spaces.
Taken by Suzanne Buchanan of Burrillville, the photo shows the boy swimming on beautiful summer day at the town beach.
KBVB Director Julia Kaplin designed the contest with a call out for photos featuring locations for outdoor recreation in the Blackstone Valley.
“It was not easy to pick a winner,” the organization noted.
A photo submitted by Jean Tierney of Hunt Mills in East Providence won second place, with the top twelve submissions featured in a new calendar. Themed, “Keeping it Playful Celebrating Beauty and Recreation in Nature,” the calendar is now available for purchase for $14 at https://tinyurl.com/5czeh5bd. Sales are a fundraiser for the organization, with 100 percent of the proceeds to go to KBVB’s programs, which support litter cleanups and beautification of the 10 cities and towns in Blackstone Valley.
Buchanan also won four tickets on the Blackstone Valley Explorer river tour boat as a prize. Her photo is featured in the month of August.
