BURRILLVILLE – There were no injuries in a minor incident on Central Street Thursday afternoon, when a driver bumped into a bus carrying home Burrillville elementary school students.
Burrillville Police Col. Stephen Lynch said officers were dispatch to the scene around 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, May 9 for a minor motor vehicle accident involving the occupied school bus in the vicinity of Bronco Highway.
Police said a vehicle operated a 44-year-old Pascoag man was fully stopped behind the bus, but then pulled forward prematurely, bumping the rear of the vehicle. Rescues were dispatched to the scene out of an abundance of caution, and each of the 6 elementary-aged children in the vehicle was evaluated, with no reported injuries. The drivers of both vehicles were also uninjured.
The bus is owned by Dattco Bus Company, who had a representative respond to the scene.
The parents of each student were contacted to pick up the children.
