Volunteers with the town's Community Garden held a plant sale by Scouter's Hall over the weekend, raising money for their ongoing operations.

Open house

Mach 1 Futbol Club at Wide World of Indoor Sports at 621 Pound Hill Road will hold an open house on Tuesday, May 14 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Prospective parents and players are invited to come and meet existing players, parents and coaching staff. Fields will also be open for pickup soccer.

Job fair

Wright’s Dairy Farm & Bakery at 200 Woonsocket Hill Road will host a job fair on Thursday, May 16 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. The management team will conduct on the spot interviews for multiple positions in delivery, bakery and the retail store. Potential candidates can fill out an application in advance at https://www.wrightsri.com/employment.

Beekeeping

On Saturday, May 18 at 11 a.m. join Calvin Alexander from the Rhode Island Beekeepers Association for a family friendly presentation to learn all about beekeeping at North Smithfield Library at 20 Main St. The presentation will be followed by a honey tasting.

Hot Piston Car Show

The Hot Piston Car Show presented by Gracie Mae will take place on Saturday, May 18 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. by North Smithfield High School at 412 Greenville Road. The event will feature food trucks and music, with all proceeds to benefit the Matthew Dennison Foundation, which provides college scholarships and hockey-based assistance to individuals and organizations in need. Admission is free for spectators and vehicle admissions cost $15, with all years welcome.

Sip & Stroll

Rise Up Nutrition at 900 Victory Highway, unit 17 will hold a “Sip & Stroll” event on Sunday, May 19 from 9 a.m. to noon with local artisans and vendors. Guests are invited to check out local products while sipping on their favorite shake or tea.

Town meetings

The North Smithfield Fire & Rescue Service Inc. Board of Directors will hold a meeting on Tuesday, May 14 starting at 6:30 p.m. at 1470 Providence Pike. The agenda is here.

The North Smithfield Zoning Board has scheduled a meeting for Tuesday, May 14 starting at 7 p.m. at Town Hall at 83 Green St. The agenda is expected to be posted on the Secretary of State’s website here.

The North Smithfield Sewer Commission will hold a meeting on Wednesday, May 15 starting at 7 p.m. at Town Hall at 83 Green St. The agenda is here.
