New officer
The Glocester Police Department held a swearing in ceremony last week to welcome a new member, Officer Bryan McConnell. McConnell successfully graduated from the Rhode Island Municipal Police Academy after completing an intensive 22-week training program, according to a post on the new hire from the GPD.
“His dedication and commitment to excellence have prepared him for the challenges of law enforcement,” the department noted.
McConnell now embarks on the next phase of his training, where he will be paired with a field training officer. Over the next 14 weeks, he will gain practical experience, refine his skills, and learn the intricacies of community policing, according to the department.

Speaking of the GPD, the department is inviting residents to a tour of their headquarters at 162 Chopmist Hill Road on Wednesday, May 29 starting at 6 p.m. The event will provide residents the opportunity to ask questions, and aims to showcase the importance of the facility and the need for a remodel and addition to the building.
“This tour provides an excellent opportunity for community members to gain insight into our operations, learn about our commitment to safety, and engage with our officers,” Chief Joseph Delprete said in a notice on the event.
