Hurricane season
The Glocester Emergency Management Agency is reminding residents that hurricane season began on Saturday, June 1 and now is the time to prepare. The agency recommends downloading the free CodeRED emergency notification app to sign up for alerts and notifications from federal, state and local officials. Sign up and download the town of Glocester’s CodeRED app here.
Summer fun
The Glocester Recreation Department has announced details of this year’s summer programs, and has added new activities to the 2024 lineup. A new Glocester Youth Mountain Biking Club, and an all-ages Walking Club will begin this summer. Wet down/Push In
The community is invited to a unique event to be held in front of Ponaganset High School at 137 Anan Wade Road on Tuesday, June 4 starting at 5 p.m. The district will celebrate the launch of a new firefighting CTE program with a traditional wet down/push in ceremony for their new firetruck.

New trail
The Glocester Land Trust has announced that a new trail has opened at the Sprague Farm Town Forest connecting the Sprague Farm property with the Huckins property. Follow the green marks to explore the Mountain Laurel Trail a roughly 1.2 mile hike through beautiful mountain laurel blooms. Parking for the trail is near 1734 Putnam Pike or can be accessed from the Haystack Trail in Sprague Farm.
Summer reading
Glocester libraries have opened registration for the summer reading program, open to youth ages 0 to 18. Participants are invited to track their reading progress for small prizes throughout summer, and sign up for fun programs including crafts, scavenger hunts, and more at either library. The Foster Glocester Regional School Committee will hold a meeting on Tuesday, June 4 starting at 7 p.m. in the library of Ponaganset High School at 137 Anan Wade Road. The agenda is here.
