Summer concert
The Glocester Recreation Department has announced the lineup for the 2024 summer concert series to be held on Wednesdays starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Kent Field Pavilion at 1111 Putnam Pike. The concerts kick off this week on Wednesday, June 26 with The DMB Project. Visitors are invited to bring blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the free show.

Information session
Information sessions on the proposed $10.7 million bond to rehabilitate the Glocester Police Department continue this week with a tour of the station scheduled for Tuesday, June 25 starting at 6 p.m. Visit the Glocester Police Station at 162 Chopmist Hill Road for the chance to ask questions and hear how the funds would be used.
A special referendum election on the bond will be held on Tuesday, August 6 at the Glocester Senior Center, 1210 Putnam Pike from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Early voting will be from July 17 to August 5 at the Glocester Town Hall at 1145 Putnam Pike from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mail ballot applications for August 6 Special Referendum are now available in the office of the Town Clerk, or on line at www.glocesterri.gov.

July 4 kickoff
The town of Glocester’s annual 4th of July celebration is set to kick off on Saturday, June 29 behind the Glocester Senior Center at 1210 Putnam Pike. The event will start at 6 p.m. and include free live music and fireworks. The rain date for the festivities is Saturday, July 13.
Parade/race signups
Speaking of Independence Day, registration is now open for the annual road race and Ancients & Horribles Parade, scheduled for Thursday, July 4. The road race starts at 9 a.m. at Chepachet Union Church at 1138 Putnam Pike and has multiple options, with a 5.5 mile race, a 1.75 mile race, a 1 mile race for children 8-12 years old, and a .5 mile race for children 7 years old and under. The parade will take place in Chepachet starting at 4 p.m., with certificates to be awarded for most ancient & horrible, most patriotic and best walking group. Everyone is invited to parade their artistic talents and wear their most outlandish outfits. Those who would like to be judged in the parade competition must register at https://www.glocesterri.gov/parade-registration.htm by July 2 or in person at Glocester Town Hall at 1145 Putnam Pike by 4 p.m. on Monday, July 1.
Late participants may register between 10 a.m. and noon on Thursday, July 4 on the Town Hall lawn, and may march in the parade, but will be ineligible for prizes.
Town meetings
The Glocester Land Trust has scheduled a property visit for a lot located at 1378 Snake Hill Road on Tuesday, June 25 starting at 5:30 p.m. Notice can be found here.
The Glocester Recreation Commission has scheduled a meeting on Tuesday, June 25 starting at 6:30 p.m. at Town Hall at 1145 Putnam Pike. The agenda is here.
