BURRILLVILLE – The Harrisville Water District and the Pascoag Utility District have implemented an emergency water ban for all of Harrisville and Pascoag water customers, with restrictions in place from Thursday, July 18 until further notice.
A notice from the Harrisville Operating Committee signed by Harrisville Supt. Marc Baptista and Pascoag Supt. Brian Black states that water levels are down and activities are restricted including lawn sprinklers and automatic irrigation systems, filling swimming pools, washing vehicles and washing of building exteriors, parking lots, driveways and sidewalks.
“Water levels are down which is causing wells to pull air into the system resulting cloudy water,” the notice states. “The district has attempted to avoid this measure, but this water conservation is now unavoidable and it is extremely important that everyone do their part to conserve water.”
The watering of vegetable gardens and maintenance of livestock remains permitted.
“We ask that everyone please help to conserve water whenever possible,” noted PUC.
The notice warns the the ban will be strictly enforced in both Harrisville and Pascoag and violators will be prosecuted.
Pascoag Utility District customers can contact the office at 401-568-6222 with questions.
Water ban is supposed to be for all but i see it does not pertain to vinagro construction as they are using water all day long working on multiple bridges. Fire hoses connected to fire hydrants. I guess this is ok while our lawns burn. During my construction days we had to bring in our own water or pump from river
This does not help the wells either.
