Sunday cartoon: Kids parking lot safety

BURRILLVILLE – Parking lots can be extremely busy. Some can become extremely dangerous for pedestrians and children if people do not pay attention to what is happening around them.

Unfortunately, I witness too many drivers in these parking lots going way too fast. The areas are not streets, main roads, highways or race tracks. Slow down and proceed with caution. Parking a few feet closer to establishment doors is not worth injuring anyone, especially children.

Kids should not run in parking lots and should be careful around moving vehicles. Look and walk, don’t run. Parents and guardians should hold hands with, and walk alongside children to insure that they are safer. If you are attending a car show with kids, make sure that they are walking and not running, and stay at least three feet away from classic cars and trucks. This would also apply to spectator vehicles that are parked adjacent to the car show field or parking lot.

We want kids to be parking lot safer and avoid any unintentional injuries. Drive slow. Walk slow. Pay attention and avoid injuries involving parking lots.
