NORTH SMITHFIELD – Rebecca DeCristofaro said she is running for the North Smithfield Town Council to provide diligent oversight, enforcement of ordinances, comprehensive planning and responsible spending.

A resident of North Smithfield since 2016, DeCristofaro lives on a small farm, with her husband and 14-month-old daughter. She has worked for the past 10 years at CVS headquarters as a strategic program and project manager. She said her professional experience and skill set will allow her to effectively manage town business imperatives, identify and mitigate risk, deliver results and cultivate collaboration. She noted that her strategy experience puts her in a unique position to focus not only on immediate issues, but to set in motion long-term plans to achieve town goals and objectives.

DeCristofaro said that she was inspired to run for office after becoming aware of a particular situation that affected her area of town, but that she soon realized that it wasn’t an isolated incident. In connecting with other constituents and becoming more involved in the town, she says it became apparent that many other issues were being overlooked, were not disclosed or were deprioritized. She said she feels deeply that that needs to change.

“I feel strongly that we need to establish and commit to a town founded on governance, integrity, accountability, professionalism, transparency, and collaboration,” she said. “As a professional, you can trust that I’ll be persistent in influencing and delivering on these commitments and what we collectively feel is best for town constituents, our local businesses and our rich environment.”

DeCristofaro said she is now meeting with residents to identify and understand topics that they feel are important.

“As a new Town Council member, I’ll be able to objectively assess, question, prioritize and influence progress with new and energized perspective and passion,” she said.

DeCristofaro holds a master’s degree from Providence College and is active in environmental and health issues.

“I look forward to this opportunity to add new ideas and ask for your vote, in November, for Town Council,” she said.

  1. Beautiful lady inside and out.
When voters go to the polls soon, hopefully a few members get replaced. One in particular is Ms O Hara. When she can call Woonsocket, the Board of Education, etc, and complain strongly about an adult show being held in the Beacon charter school, which is NOT her concern, NOT her town……YET….do nothing of the present TA concerning his admitted lewd comments in his deposition recently….this is of serious concern. Hypocritical attitude. They hang out together, but found his behavior OK? No big issues raised on that person? But calls Houle in Woonsocket about a charter school show! A person is measured by a consistent value system, equal treatment.
See page 42 of the leaked Houle report, for Sept 18. Can be found in its entire form on the CoalitionRadioNetwork.

    • To add further…..see WJAR, article of 9/21/23….on this Controversial Play…..about acceptance. To save the world from political correctness….through comedy. Done by adults, for adults, no children, in the evenings, by a theatre group. They rent out the theater. Very controlled. Yet she found fault with that. Made a fuss all over.
Ms O Hara has long standing issues with other gender groups….I refer you to a VB article, from April 7, 2021, after her comments on FB. She found no fault with the current TA, ever, never made a comment to the vulgarity or unprofessionalism, but voices strong concern on everything other than her own TA. The irony…..

      • What does your comments have to do about Rebecca, her Candidacy and her Qualifications? Nothing. You’re attempting to slander and demean a woman who has given her life to this town with your nasty and divisive comments. Everyone knows who you are! Thankfully you’re not running again.

Mrs. Decristofaro, be careful with whom you align yourself with. A majority of these internet trolls supporting you will wind up costing you votes vs. getting you votes. Once you step out of line and think for yourself, they will throw you to the wolves and drag you and your family through the mud. Just ask councilor Osier. He was the shiny new penny at one point, just like you are now. You have been warned.

        • Zwolenski will be gone, and now it’s time to broom O’Hara and Beauregard, it’s long overdue to dump these candidates and bring in a new, fresh, fiscal and forward-looking town council.

        • My comments have everything to do with the toxic personality and toxic character of one TC member for all to see at voting time, aside from what is seen on aired mttgs. Of a TC member who did nothing to handle a long-toxic TA. Go after her rather than defend her of the negligence of support of a female town employee. But she was too busy looking into a Woonsocket adult show she hated. Make sense? Not at all. Cannot have it both ways.
And btw, I am not Paulette. So you can stop that accusation, it got old fast.
And the plural is …..what DO your comments….not …use of does…singular. Ask O Hara, the retired teacher….lol.
Hopefully she is not voted back in. Nor JB.
Vote ppl in with educated minds, forward-thinking and fiscally-minded. Respectable. Professionals. Mature. Change has come, ppl have become fed up with backdoor drama, and are more outspoken than ever before. Especially the women! As they say, be afraid, be very afraid….lol.

          • You’re right, Apologies Mike.

Maybe we can vote some people in who can run a meeting like an adult and aren’t afraid to make a decision without checking with their internet overlord 1st. Or shoot down great ideas just because it wasn’t their idea!

Alves, Osier, Hamilton all have to go!

            • Nope, not Mike either, not connected to town politics, just a taxpayer and observer. So again, stop with the assumptions on who I am. It’s old. Pathetic.
Hamilton is not running….seems you are not up to the latest. O Hara, JB, need to go. Osier questions a lot, a good thing. Alves may need to go too eventually, has become rude, short-tempered.
I believe with a new TA, like Gibbs, it may just become an organized professionally-managed team. Gibbs has an impeccable resume.

          • “Mikelette” that should be your new one going forward, ya know, to keep the conversation going….

For someone who isn’t connected to politics you sure do know an awful lot. Dates, specific sites and time stamps etc. You aren’t guilty of cyberstalking are you???

Not sure why you are attempting to paint a Gibbs vs. current members of the TC, should the be re-elected, with your nasty low level insinuations and divisiveness. North Smithfield is tired of it. America is tired of it!

            • When you can stop with your childish name calling because you lack maturity , then we can converse on the dynamics of the incoming newly elected! Lol.
I post to educate ppl on just what goes on as to someone’s character and personality. Don’t like it? Then don’t read it….or act on it but I’ll be darn you’re going to put me down for showing dirty politicking.

        • “A majority of these internet trolls supporting you will wind up costing you votes vs. getting you votes.” That’s rich, the cowardly pot who can’t use his real name calling the kettle black! You came on this page just to do what you’re suggesting is inappropriate; acting as a troll and smashing candidates while defending your friend Claire. Don’t you realize everyone identifies you as a troll for O’Hara, Guertin and Beauregard so your own actions will cost them votes. My God, you could be one of them for all we know since you’re afraid to use your own identity.

  2. Well said Mary! Youth, vitality, professionalism and experience” and I’ll add to that, the fact she has something I now see in sort supply, MOXIE! Each time we converse, I watch her speak or I find myself just listening (a rare thing), I am impressed with her gumption. Rebecca is a woman of principal and strong convictions and would be a great asset to the Town of North Smithfield.

  3. My sentiments exactly. I’ve got to know her as she is fighting with the quarry. More businesses should be gone that are polluting our air, land and water.
THANK YOU for running and saying what we want to say.

  4. I cannot thank Rebecca enough for becoming a candidate for the North Smithfield Town Council. She brings youth, vitality, professionalism and experience to the job. If you haven’t seen Rebecca in action, visit the TC YouTube website. I am sure that you will be impressed by this young professional and will cast your vote for Rebecca.
