BURRILLVILLE – An 18-year-old Burrillville man was arrested this month following an incident at George’s Pizza where he shot the cook several times at close range according to witnesses.

Cody Webb Levesque is now facing a felony charge of carrying a pistol without a permit as well as misdemeanors of disorderly conduct and firing in a compact area.

Police were called to the area around 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 14 for reports of a man walking along Pascoag Main Street with blood covering his face. Arriving at the scene, they found a man being tended to by employees of George’s Pizza with a large laceration on his forehead, which was bleeding profusely. The man was reportedly intoxicated and not cooperating with officers who asked what happened, also saying he did not want care from rescue personnel. The man told police he was shot with a BB gun and lifted his shirt showing several red and bruised marks on his abdomen and one on his hand that appeared to be small caliber gun shot wounds.

“It was unknown at the time if any bullets were lodged in his person,” notes a narrative on the incident by Patrolman Lucas Pontbriant.

The man told police he did not want to press charges and refused to speak about the incident. With his head wound bleeding at what officers described as a high rate of speed, paramedics were called, but the victim continued to refuse treatment, even attempting to run from the scene. The man was eventually forced into the ambulance by police and sedated.

Witnesses identified Webb-Levesque as the shooter, saying he shot the victim, who was a cook that night at the business, at close range with a pellet gun, and then ran away down the pathway toward Well One. The victim reportedly ran after him, with Webb-Levesque still shooting, and eventually returned to George’s covered in blood.

Located at his home, Webb-Levesque told officers that the victim insulted and slapped him, and admitted to discharging the weapon after the man said what he was carrying was, “not a real gun.” He said the victim continued to walk toward him as he shot, chasing him and yelling he was going to kill him. He said he hid to escape, and that he did not wish to press charges.

Webb-Levesque said the weapon was a Glock BB gun that shot metal pellets, and reportedly told officers he was carrying it because he had planned to go shooting at a friend’s house.

The weapon was later recovered, and police spoke to Webb-Levesque’s friend, who verified his version of events, noting that the victim had slapped him and adding that while trying to escape, Webb-Levesque pistol whipped the man’s face with the gun.

Webb-Levesque was held overnight and was transported to 6th District Court the following morning for his arraignment.
