Hunter certification, bridge update & All About Amy: Six things to know in Burrillville this week

The Burrillville Patriots Football and Cheer program thanked all who donated to their fundraiser. The program is still accepting player registration for children ages 4-14 with a mandatory parent/guardian meeting and first practice to be held at Hauser Field on Monday, July 29. Auditions

The Assembly Theatre at 26 East Ave. will hold auditions for the performance of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s School of Rock on Monday, July 29; Wednesday, July 31 and Friday, August 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. Actors of all ages, ethnicities, abilities, and gender identities are encouraged to audition for the show, to take place in November, with more information found here.

Bridge update

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation has installed new signs for the revised truck detour to accommodate work on the Lapham and Pascoag River Bridges. Trucks are no longer using the posted East Avenue Bridge in Burrillville to get around the closed bridge.

At the Lapham Bridge, RIDOT has finished all demolition and steel girder placement, and is now beginning to form the bridge’s concrete deck.

Garden time

Jenza’s Garden at 470 S. Main St. will hold an Open Garden event on Tuesday, August 30 from 5:15 to 7 p.m. offering hands on learning for volunteers and visitors. Volunteers will be assigned tasks based on comfort level and will leave with alive or dry plants, with discussion on how to make oils, teas and more.

Hunter certification

The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management will hold a two day hunter certification course at Wallum Lake Rod & Gun Club at 200 Brook Road on Saturday, August 3 and Sunday, August 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. More information and registration can be found here.

All About Amy

The Riverwalk Concert Series continues on Saturday, August 3 with All About Amy to play a free show at the Stillwater Mill Pavilion on Tinkham Lane starting at 6 p.m. Little B’s BBQ will be on site with the concert to be held inside the library in the case of inclement weather.

Town meetings

The Harrisville Fire District Operating Committee will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, July 30 starting at 7 p.m. at 115 Central St. The agenda is here.
