Notices

The town of Burrillville has published two notices this week including the rules governing where you can post political signs and a note from Town Manager Michael Wood regarding the turf field project. Citizen Police Academy

The Burrillville Police Department has announced that signups are now open for the 2024 Citizen Police Academy, an 11 week program set to begin on September 11. Classes will be held in the community room as police headquarters at 1477 Victory Highway Wednesday nights from 6 to 9 p.m. The academy aims to allow residents to view the police department from the inside with instruction from officers on how crimes are investigated. Seating is limited to 40 participants age 17 and up.

Alice in Wonderland

The Assembly Theatre at 26 East Ave. will hold a production of Alice in Wonderland on Friday, August 9 at 7 p.m.; Saturday, August 10 at 2 and 7 p.m.; and Sunday, August 11 at 2 p.m. The Assembly ACT production costs $20 or $15 for kids age 10 and under, and tickets can be purchased here.

Family movie

The Burrillville Prevention Action Coalition will sponsor Family Movie Night on Fridays in August at Spring Lake Beach at 50 Old Hillside Drive. This week, catch Disney’s Inside Out at the beach starting at 7 p.m. In case of rain, movies will move to Saturday.

Concert

The Riverwalk Concert Series continues on Saturday, August 10 with Brass Attack to play a free show at the Stillwater Mill Pavilion on Tinkham Lane starting at 6 p.m. The Dinolicious food truck will be on site, with the concert to be held inside the library in the case of inclement weather.

Town meetings

The Burrillville Board of Canvassers will hold a meeting on Tuesday, August 6 starting at 10 a.m. at the Town Building at 105 Harrisville Main St. The agenda is here.
