Station vote

The town of Glocester will hold a special referendum election on Tuesday, August 6 regarding an initiative to expand the Glocester Police station with a $10.7 million bond. The polling location will be the Glocester Senior Center at 1210 Putnam Pike in Chepachet from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. View the notice from the town here, a sample of the tax rate impact here, or information from the department regarding the need for the planned renovation here.

Concert rescheduled

The Glocester Recreation Department has announced that while summer recreation programs have come to a close, last week’s concert with All About Amy has been rescheduled. The free concert will be held on Friday, Oct. 4 starting at 6 p.m. at the Kent Field Pavilion, with Pam’s Grill on the Go food truck on site serving food starting at 5:30 p.m.

Blood drive

The Glocester Police Department will hold a blood drive inside conference room 9 at Glocester Town Hall at 1145 Putnam Pike on Thursday, August 8 from 1-5 p.m. Sign up at www.ribc.org/drives use code #5089. Appointments are preferred but walk-in donations will be welcome if space permits.

Succulent DIY

A DIY succulent workshop will be held at Hill’s Tavern at 417 Putnam Pike on Saturday, August 10 from 2 to 4 p.m. to raise funds for Alyssa Iadarola to be a torch bearer in the Glorias Gemma Walk of Hope. Tickets cost $45 via Venmo to @lyss4464 with 100 percent of proceeds to go toward free healing and support services for breast cancer patients and survivors.

Kids on a Mission

Glad Tidings Community Church at 111 Victory Highway will hold a Junior Kids Camp August 13-16 from 9 a.m. to noon, designed for early childhood and elementary aged students. Students will engage in STEAM activities, crafts and games with a, “world travelers,” theme. The cost per child is $25, and more information and a link to register can be found here.

Town meetings

The West Glocester Fire District Executive Board will hold a meeting on Tuesday, August 6 starting at 5:30 p.m. at 2410 Putnam Pike. The agenda is here.

The Foster-Glocester School Committee will hold a meeting on Tuesday, August 6 at Ponaganset High School at 137 Anan Wade Road with a work session starting at 5:30 p.m. for an agenda found here, executive session at 6:30 p.m. and a regular meeting with open session starting at 6:30 p.m. for an agenda found here.
