Victory Day
Town Hall will be closed on Monday, August 12 in observance of Victory Day and there will be no trash or recycling pickup. Pickup will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.
Concert
The North Smithfield Parks & Recreation Department’s free summer concert series continues on Thursday, August 15 with a performance by Cee Cee & the Riders from 6-8 p.m. The concerts take place in the field by Town Hall at 83 Green St. and visitors are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets.
Tryouts
The North Smithfield/Mount Saint Charles JV/Varsity football team will hold tryouts on Thursday, August 15 and Friday, August 16 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the turf field at North Smithfield High School. Athletes are asked to register to join the team here.
Pick your own
Goodwin Brothers Farm Stand has announced that pick-your-own blueberries and donut peaches will be available this week.
PYO blueberries will be available Monday from 9am to 4pm; closed on Tuesday. Guests are encouraged to bring their own containers or containers are for sale for $3 each. The price is $5.99 a pound and must be paid in the shop. The farm noted that picking conditions for blueberries are fair, meaning that there are still a good number of berries to be found but it may take a little extra looking to locate them. Blueberry season is on its way to wrapping up for the season and the farm notes it will be over by the end of this week..
PYO peaches will be available on Monday and Tuesday from 9am to 1pm. Visitors should report directly to the PYO location directly across from North Smithfield Middle School on Providence Pike. Cash payments are accepted in the field, but credit card payments must be processed at the store. The price is $15 for your first half peck bag of 6-6.5 pounds and $10 for any additional bags. The farm notes that picking conditions for peaches are currently excellent.

Weekly
Wright’s Dairy Farm at 200 Woonsocket Hill Road will host “Pizza, Scoops & Summer Nights,” on Saturday, August 17 from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event will feature the farm’s ice cream, along with live music and made-to-order pizza. The weekly summer events will continue on August 24 and 31.
Also ongoing this week are two summer activities on the grounds of the Beef Barn Restaurant at 200 Industrial Drive with a car cruise scheduled for Tuesday, August 13 and yoga on Sunday, August 18. Grab an ice cream and check out modern and classic cars Tuesday from 3 to 8 p.m. or show up Sunday morning at 9 a.m. with a yoga mat, water, and $10.
Town meetings
The North Smithfield Fire & Rescue Service Board of Directors will hold a meeting on Tuesday, August 13 starting at 6:30 p.m. at 1470 Providence Pike. The agenda is here.
