I am writing to explain my decision to pull out of the North Smithfield Town Administrator race prior to the deadline for submitting signatures on nomination papers. Although I had the necessary signatures for running, I decided not to run upon hearing that Scott Gibbs also had pulled candidacy papers.
Scott and I had a conversation and we both agreed that we didn’t want to run against each other. Our primary motivation for running was to help the town move forward.
Scott and I have known each other for decades. Scott’s qualifications, experience, and ethical standards are second to none. He is the perfect candidate to be the town administrator and for that reason, I decided not to continue my candidacy. Scott has the skills necessary to bridge the divides in our community and provide the leadership to work closely with the Town Council and to make good decisions for the town’s future.
I love the town of North Smithfield, and I have developed a vast network of friends in the community. I welcome the privilege to serve my community, but I believe I can do that best by supporting Scott as our next town administrator.
I encourage others to support Scott Gibbs and begin the process of moving our community forward.

How can we get a sign to support Scott Gibbs?
I’d take a sign too Scott, but a back road address wouldn’t get you the most out of it!
Vote Scott!!!
It’s an easy choice,
Vote Gibbs!
How do I get a sign for my property to help support Scott Gibbs. Thank you
Tom, thank you for your support. Where can I drop off a sign?
Putting the town above self is a noble quality to have. Wishing Scott the best and for good vibes for Tom.
I could not agree more. There will be no learning curve with Scott at the helm and he will be experienced on Day 1. I look forward to the depth and breadth of his experience and know that he will move this town forward.
