GLOCESTER – Glocester police are warning residents to be on alert following an attack on a family dog by a rabid bobcat this week.
The bobcat attacked the pet on on Slavin Path Wednesday, August 14. Family members were reportedly able to save the dog and the bobcat was captured. It later tested positive for rabies and was euthanized.
Residents are advised to take precautions, including keeping pets on leashes near wooded areas, updating rabies vaccinations, securing trashcans, putting away food that can attract wildlife, and reporting any suspicious or aggressive wild animals to Glocester Animal Control. Locals are reminded not to feed or approach wildlife and to seek medical help immediately if they are bitten or scratched by a wild animal.
“Stay safe, protect your pets, and remain vigilant,” noted police. “Together, we can prevent further incidents and safeguard our community.”
