Job fair
Wright’s Dairy Farm at 200 Woonsocket Hill Road will host a job fair on Wednesday, August 28 from 4 to 6 p.m., with the management team ready to conduct on-the-spot interviews and bench tests. The farm is currently seeking full and part time customer service associates, a full time production baker, and a full time pastry prep and finisher.
Applicants are asked to fill out an application in advance if possible.
And don’t forget to stop by the dairy farm on Saturday, August 31 for the final Pizza, Scoops & Summer Nights featuring live music, made-to-order pies and Wright’s ice cream.
Back to school
Students head back to school this week, with the first day of class in North Smithfield scheduled for Wednesday, August 28. North Smithfield Elementary School will hold an open house on Monday, August 26 from 5:30 yo 7 p.m., and a professional development day for all district teachers will be held on Tuesday, August 27. MDA collection
North Smithfield Professional Fire Fighters Local 3984 will continue raising funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association on Saturday, August 31. Visit the Walmart at Dowling Village to donate between 8 a.m. and noon.
Car seat installations
The North Smithfield Police Department is now offering residents help with installation of car seats by appointment only. Those in need of the service are asked to email [email protected] or [email protected] for availability.
Town meetings
The Halliwell Review Committee will hold a meeting on Monday, August 26 starting at 7:15 p.m. at Town Hall at 83 Green St. The agenda is here.
The Groundwater Protection Committee will hold a meeting on Tuesday, August 27 starting at 6:45 p.m. at Memorial Town Hall at 1 Main St. The agenda is here.

Thank you Sandy for posting this great picture! The smiles show that they enjoy what they do! Volunteering with the North Smithfield Historical Cemetery committee is so rewarding especially if you find someone’s stone that’s been missing for decades. Kudos to all that want to preserve our past.
Update: The Water Committee chose to have the meeting outside! It was such a nice night and when it doesn’t “feel” like a meeting, you get things done. Memorial Town building is a great place to have a meeting. FYI, the committee will meet at different places in town, so watch for the address. I hope more people get involved in making sure their drinking water is potable.
