Hazard mitigation comments

The town of North Smithfield is currently updating its Hazard Mitigation Plan with a public comment period to begin this week. Town officials note that the plan is important because it helps the town to plan and receive funding for projects that reduce the risk of injury or damage to property from future natural hazard events, such as flooding and hurricanes.

The Planning Department and the Hazard Mitigation Review Committee have released a draft of the updated plan, found here. The document will be available for public view and comment from Thursday, Sept. 12 through Thursday, Oct. 3. Comments may be submitted to the North Smithfield Planning Department at (401) 767-2200 extension 336 or [email protected].
