WOBURN, Mass. — The Massachusetts man who police say was involved in the death of a 17-year-old Burrillville girl is now facing charges of first degree murder.
Shane Curry, 20, of Stow, Mass. was initially charged with assault and battery on a household member and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, before prosecutors upgraded the charges last week.
Curry is accused of stabbing 17-year-old Nevaeh Goddard of Burrillville, whose body was discovered during a well-being check at his home in April. According to police, Curry prevented officers from entering the home for more than two hours prior to the gruesome discovery.
The teen was reportedly dating Curry and living in the home.
Goddard previously lived in Burrillville with her grandfather, Michael Simmons. She had been reported as missing by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
At his arraignment in Middlesex Superior Court on Wednesday, Sept. 4, Curry was held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing.
