Protect Burrillville
A meeting to discuss the dangers of synthetic turf organized by opponents of the project at Burrillville High School will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 17, with doors open at 6:30 p.m. at Wallum Lake Rod & Gun Club at 200 Brook Road. Guests will hear about synthetic turf from a group of scientists and policy advisors, to include a question and answer session.
Locals in Massachusetts and Rhode Island are invited to show up in person, and the event will also be available online by registering here.
Open mic
Open Mic resumes at the First Universalist Church of Burrillville on Tuesday, Sept. 17 from 7 to 9 p.m. The event serves as an opportunity to spotlight local talent and connect the church within the local community. Musicians and poets are invited to share songs and/or poems in front of an audience, and all are welcome to share their talents or just enjoy the evening’s entertainment.
Those who wish to perform are asked to arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of the event to sign up. Open mic participants will have 10 minutes or 2 songs, 5 minutes or two poems. If the list is completed early, there will be a second round.
The event is free and donations are welcome to support preservation efforts of the historic church.

Goods collection
Burrilliville Girls Softball Association will hold a six week drive collecting unwanted clothes, household textiles, kitchen wares and miscellaneous items and books. Items must be clean and in sellable condition, and can be brought to Hauser Field on Thursday nights starting Sept. 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. Clothes and textiles should be placed in bags, and household items firmly packed in boxes, separate from books. All profits will go to help the organization maintain Hauser Field and purchase equipment.
Skate night
The Burrillville Junior Hockey League will hold an open public skate night on Friday, Sept. 20 from 8 p.m. to 9:50 p.m. at Levy Rink at 425 East Ave. The cost is $7 per skater with free skate rentals and all ages are welcome.
Field Day
Wallum Lake Rod & Gun Club at 200 Brook Road will host a Field Day on Sunday, Sept. 22 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with skeet, trap, 3D archery, pistol and rifle shooting. The field day will feature raffles, food specials, a Civil War reenactment, crafts, face painting and much more and is open to the public.
Octoberfest
Bravo Brewing Company at 75 Pascoag Main St. will hold its annual Oktoberfest celebration on Friday, Sept. 20 starting at 6 p.m. Farm to Sandwich will be serving Oktoberfest-inspired dishes and The Aviators will perform from 6-9 p.m. Guests are invited to wear their favorite Oktoberfest attire.
On Sunday, the brewery will collaborate with Jeepers for a canned goods drive in support of Operation Stand Down RI from noon to 6 p.m., collecting non-perishable food items and donations.

The Burrillville 250 Commission will hold a meeting on Monday, Sept. 16 starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Wallace Lees Safety Complex at 1477 Victory Highway. The agenda is here.

The Burrillville Conservation Commission meeting originally scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 17 has been rescheduled to Monday, Sept. 23.
