Blasting, Community Kickoff & Art Festival: Six things to know in Glocester this week

The Glocester Land Trust is inviting visitors to explore the trails at Hawkins Pond and find all the squirrels the young artists from Listen to Your Art created.

Blasting

The Glocester Police Department is notifying residents that Vinagro will be blasting on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at the job site at 812 Putnam Pike between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Waste

The town of Glocester will host a community kick-off meeting for the new Septic Improvement Program for Chepachet Village on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at Glocester Town Hall at 1145 Putnam Pike starting at 7 p.m. The public is welcome to attend and can get more information by contacting Town Planner Karen Scott at  [email protected].

Meet the candidates

The Glocester Business Association will host a Meet the Candidates event on Thursday, Sept. 26. While the forum itself is only open to GBA members, NRI NOW will be in attendance and plans to offer coverage of the event and the candidates’ presentations for our readers.

If they haven’t already, tell your favorite candidate for local office to RSVP now, so we can offer as much information as possible to Glocester voters!

Art festival

Mulberry Vineyards at 95 Pound Road and Money Hill Tattoo will host the second annual Art in the Vineyards festival on Saturday, Sept. 28 starting at 1 p.m. Visit with artists and artisans in a picturesque location. Guests are invited to bring a chair and enjoy a glass of wine at the vineyard.

On Sunday, Sept. 29 John Rogers will perform at the vineyard from 1 to 4 p.m.

Fundraiser

A fundraiser for candidates Linda Nichols, who is running for House District 40 and Lew Pryeor, who is running for Senate District 23 will be held on Sunday, Sept. 29 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Copperfield’s Restaurant at 375 Putnam Pike in Smithfield. The event will include food, a cash bar, and a visit by special guest state Treasurer James Diossa. Guests can offer their donation to either or both candidates at a cost of $25 per individual or $40 for two. To attend, contact Pryeor at (401) 450-8887 or Nichols at (401) 309-8349.

The Glocester Recreation Committee meeting originally scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 24 has been cancelled.

The Historic District Commission will hold a meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 25 starting at 7 p.m. at Town Hall at 1145 Putnam Pike. The agenda is here.
