Hunting, comedy & Music on Main: Seven things to know in Glocester this week

Hunting season

The hunting season for deer and wild turkey at the Williams Mills Conservation Area begins on Tuesday, Oct. 1 and will run through May 18 of 2025. Hunters must follow Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management Regulations and the office of the Town Clerk may issue Landowner Courtesy Cards.

Comedy night & more

It’s a big week at Hill’s Tavern & Grill at 417 Putnam Pike, with the business to host a comedy night on Thursday, Oct. 3 starting at 7 p.m. with appearances by eight different local comedians with John Perrotta’s Comedy Factory. Tickets cost $15.

On Saturday, Oct. 5, the bar/restaurant will hold Country Fest for $5 with the following artists: 1p.m., Tyler Fauxbel; 2 p.m., Jesse Desorcy & Co.; 4 p.m., Charlie Marie; 5 p.m., Overserved Again; 7 p.m., Mike Iula; and 8 p.m., Trigger South.

On Sunday, Hill’s will hold a special Family Day from 1 to 6 p.m. in honor of the business’s anniversary. The event will include a clam boil for $25, along with a petting zoo, pony rides, face painting and acoustic music outside.

Music on Main

The Glocester Recreation Department will host Music of Main on Friday, Oct. 4 featuring food and live music at the Kent Field Pavilion at 1109 Putnam Pike. The event will kickoff at 6 p.m. with music by All About Amy and food available from Pam’s Grill on the Go.

Halloween Bingo

The Chepachet Grange at 28 Chopmist Hill Road will host a Halloween-themed bingo night on Friday, Oct. 4. Players who come in costume will receive a free raffle ticket, with doors to open at 5 p.m. and games starting at 6 p.m. A $10 admission will include six cards for ten games. Food and drink will also be available.

Customer appreciation

Mind Your Dog will hold a customer appreciation and adoption day on Sunday, Oct. 6 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Mulberry Vineyard at 95 Pound Road. The event will feature adoptable dogs and puppies as well as doggie vendors and food for purchase from The Sticks Pizza and Who Cut the Cheesecake. The event is open to the public and leashed dogs are welcome.

Kickathon

Village Martial Arts at 840 Putnam Pike will host a Kickathon on Sunday, Oct. 6 starting at 1 p.m. Visitors are invited to participate, sponsor a participant, or just cheer the kids on while they raise funds for the Burrillville Prevention Action Coalition.

The Foster- Glocester Regional School Committee will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 1 starting at 7 p.m. in the library of Ponaganset High School at 137 Anan Wade Road. The agenda is here.

The Glocester Planning Board will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 1 starting at 7 p.m. at Town Hall at 1145 Putnam Pike. The agenda is here.

The Glocester Economic Development Commission will hold a meeting will hold a meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 2 starting at 7 p.m. at Town Hall at 1145 Putnam Pike. The agenda is here.

The Glocester Town Council is scheduled to hold a meeting on Thursday, Oct. 3 starting at 7:30 p.m. The agenda should be published at least 48 hours in advance on the Secretary of State’s website here.
