BURRILLVILLE – It’s National Fire Prevention Week everyone!
National Fire Prevention Week begins Sunday, Oct. 6 and ends on Saturday, Oct., 12 in 2024. This year’s NFPA slogan is, “Smoke Alarms: Make them work for you.” This slogan will be the ongoing theme until next October, when the National Fire Protection Association creates another fire safety slogan.
This week’s Sunday feature contains that slogan, along with a reminder to change smoke alarm batteries at the end of the month when we turn our clocks back one hour for daylight saving time. The Fearless Dino Protector Squad has been reminding kids and families about fire safety and burn prevention since 1996. These trademark cartoon characters are a team of firefighter dinosaurs that feature apparatus at the ends of their tails. Their namesakes are synonymous with their firefighting talents and skills, along with creative dinosaur names. Dino-Shnozzle has a hose at the end of his tail for putting out fires. Dino-Puppy “911” teaches kids to stop, drop and roll, drop low and go, and to get out, stay out; just to name a few. This is the kids’ favorite firefighting dinosaur character, probably because he’s a puppy dinosaur. Whoever heard of a puppy dinosaur? The kids have! Dino-Traxxe has an axe at the end of his tail and teaches outdoor and camping fire safety. Dino-Traumasore teaches kids fire safety and burn prevention. He has a trauma bag at the end of his tail. Dino-Ladderus has a ladder at the end of his tail and teaches kids how to escape house and apartment fires safely. Dino-Chiefasaurus teaches kids about a variety of fire safety and burn prevention tips that include space heater safety and hot stove safety. He has a clipboard at the end of his tail for taking notes and drawing fire safety cartoons for the kids. The Fearless Dino Protector Squad villains range from the leader called Pyro, to other villains called Spitfire, Ignitor, Fireball and Smokescreen.
Please share this Seasons of Safety coloring cartoon with kids everywhere this week and throughout the month of October. It could help prevent unintentional burns, injuries and even deaths. The holidays and winter weather are approaching and these fire safety and burn prevention coloring cartoons will be sporadically featured here on Sundays over the coming months. Color and talk with your kids about fire safety.
Have a great and safe October!
