
Exit closed
A reminder, in case you missed it, that the exit to Sayles Hill Road from Route 146 is now closed Monday through Friday between the hours of 7 to 9 a.m., and 3 to 7 p.m. The temporary restriction is due to construction on 146, and began on Thursday, Oct. 3. Restrictions are subject to change depending on construction and its impacts to public safety on Sayles Hill Road neighborhood.

Dinner & Comedy
The North Smithfield Athletic Association will host a Dinner & Comedy Night on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Village Haven at 90 School St. with entertainment by John Perrotta’s Comedy Factory and a cash bar. Tickets cost $50 and can be purchased by filling out the form found here and submitting payment via Venmo to @NSAthleticAssociation.
Burning permits
North Smithfield Fire & Rescue is reminding residents that permit required open burning in town begins on Saturday, Oct. 12 and will continue through April. Residents who wish to obtain permits are asked to call the dispatch office at (401) 762-1135 on the day they wish to burn and the dispatcher will issue one over the phone if conditions are safe for burning.
Ongoing events
Weekly car shows at the Beef Barn have come to a close, and outdoor entertainment at The Island has ended for the season, but there’s still some weekly entertainment in town. This week, catch Run ‘N Wild on Saturday, Oct. 12 at Lindy’s Tavern at 82 School St. starting at 8 p.m. Yama Fuji at 900 Victory Highway will offer music bingo on Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., and Haven & Harmony will offer Yoga is for Every Body with an pay-what-you-can all levels class at 585 Smithfield Road from 9 to 10:30 a.m. At Goodwin Brothers Farm Stand at 458 Greenville Road, free weekend hayrides have begun along with visits by the Oatmiel Cafe food truck, with details to be announced on the business’s Facebook page.

The North Smithfield Town Council will hold a meeting on Monday, Oct. 7 starting at 6:45 p.m. at Town Hall at 83 Greene St. The agenda is here.
