Open house
Ponaganset High School will hold an Open House on Thursday, Oct. 10 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in the auditorium of the school at 137 Anan Wade Road. Parents and students are invited to learn about the school’s history, mission, programs, course offerings and more.
Beer tasting
The Glocester Lions Club will host their annual beer tasting event with Chepachet Wine & spirits on Thursday, Oct. 10 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Crystal Lake at 100 Broncos Highway in Mapleville. Tickets cost $25 aqnd can be purchased by calling Bob DeRoche at (401) 440-2850.

Silver recognition
Ponaganset High School has earned Silver recognition on the College Board’s AP School Honor Roll for the 2023-24 school year. The prestigious award recognizes the school’s commitment to providing students with access to challenging AP courses and supporting them on their path to college success.
“Our students have shared how taking AP courses at PHS has helped them feel more confident and better prepared for college,” noted PHS in announcing the award. “In fact, some students have even been able to graduate college early and save money thanks to the college credits they earned.”
“We are grateful for the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, and staff that made this achievement possible. We are committed to continuing to offer our students these valuable opportunities and to providing them with the support they need to succeed.”
Cigar & Bourbon night

Tours
The Glocester Heritage Society will open the historic 1743 Doctor Reuben Mason House at 1043 Putnam Pike for tours on Sunday, Oct. 13, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The house contains the Dorr Rebellion War Museum room, and an 1800s doctor’s medicinal garden on the grounds. All are welcome to visit the house and garden.
Entertainment
Live entertainment this week includes a performance on Friday, Oct. 11 by Infinite Groove at Cady’s Tavern at 2168 Putnam Pike starting at 8 p.m. On Saturday, it’s Billy Pilgrim Band starting at 8 p.m. and the tavern offers Roadhouse Blues every Sunday starting at 3 p.m.
At Mulberry Vineyards at 95 Pound Road, Mama Train will perform from 1 to 4 p.m. of Sunday, Oct. 13.
Hill’s Tavern will host line dancing on Thursday, Oct. 10 starting at 7 p.m. and The Underground on Saturday, Oct. 11 starting at 8 p.m. On Sunday, it’s Dirty Old Men, with a show starting at 2 p.m.
