Woonsocket man arrested after striking NSPD cruiser

NORTH SMITHFIELD – A Woonsocket man is facing charges after allegedly striking an occupied police cruiser while driving under the influence last week.

Jeremy Iaciofano, 38, of Woonsocket was charged with DUI of Liquor, BAC Unknown, refusal to submit to a chemical test – 1st offense, operating a motor vehicle without proof of insurance and obedience to traffic control devices following the incident on Saturday, Oct. 19.

According to police Iaciafano drove up behind a parked North Smithfield Police cruiser, occupied by an officer on a construction detail around 12:57 a.m. The officer was transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. 

Investigating officers made contact with Iaciofano who reportedly showed signs of impairment. After an on scene investigation, Iaciofano was arrested and charged.
