Northern, RI – Who said kids have to have all the fun?
Halloween is upon us and, this weekend in particular, venues across northern Rhode Island will have events geared toward adults, with costume contests, live music and frights well-suited to a seasoned ghoul. Below is our list of Halloween fun for those of us who aged out of trick or treating long ago.
So put on that mask, jump on your broom and fly over to these local haunts.
At the Halloween costume party at Lindy’s Tavern at 98 School St. in North Smithfield on Friday, Oct. 25, people will be grooving to the music of Northeast Groove. Doors open 3 p.m. with music at 8 p.m. with prizes for best costumes inside the Plastic Palace.
On Friday, Oct. 25 from 4 to 8:30 p.m., The Witches’ Night Out 2024 swoops down at Brown & Hopkins at 1179 Putnam Pike in Chepachet. “Gather your ghoulfriends for a night of fun and shopping…” For a non-refundable and non-transferable ticket costing $7, receive a free gift with a $11.95 value. Special guests TBA. Temporary tattoo available, while supplies last, Tarot Card Readings for $10, and Friskie Fries food truck, and photo booth will be available. Shoppers are encouraged to wear a witch hat or costume. Be prepared for the possibility of waiting outdoors to enter the store.
Haunted Gallows, “Northern Rhode Island’s Newest Terror Experience,” where “only the brave will make it out alive,” takes place at 505 East Ironstone Road in Harrisville on Friday through Sunday, Oct. 25-27. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. and attractions at 7 p.m. with the last session of the night at 9:45 p.m. The attractions at Richardson’s Sawmill, a 600-acre farm, include The Dark Fair “an immersive experience that will transport you into the depths of a sinister carnival,” and Bathsheba’s Woods “a captivating journey through an ancient forest teeming with local legends and the haunting echoes of a perilous era.” The public is warned “This experience is not for the faint of heart.” For tickets and more information visit https://hauntedgallows.com/ or call 401-757-0777.
On Friday, Oct 25, beginning at 7 p.m., Dev’s Tavern at 341 Chapel St. in Harrisville presents their Annual Halloween Party that provides prizes for the best costumes.
The Rhode Island Stage Ensemble’s performance of Young Frankenstein at The Assembly Theatre at 26 East Ave. continues this week, with shows on Friday, Oct. 25 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 26 at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $27 or $23 for students, seniors and military members and can be purchased here. Tickets sold at the door will cost an additional $2 each.
Hill’s Tavern & Grill at 417 Putnam Pike in Chepachet will host their Hill-oween Party on Friday, Oct. 25 starting at 8 p.m.
On Saturday, Oct. 26 from 4 to 10 p.m., The Island at 1600 Victory Highway in North Smithfield presents their annual Halloween Party. “Costumes are encouraged, shenanigans are anticipated, and prizes are awarded for top 3 costumes. DJ & dancing.”
The folks at Toti’s Tavern at 8 Callahan School St. in Harrisville invite the public to join them “for a spooktacular” Halloween Bash that will feature Chris Laberge. “Enjoy grub, grog, and goodies, and get ready for a night to remember.” The party is set for Saturday, Oct. 26, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
The Annual Halloween Costume Party with Stale Harvest and special guest Mason Street is at Cady’s Tavern, 2168 Putnam Pike, Glocester, on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 8 to 11 p.m. The “truly spooktacular event” will have music, dancing and prizes for the best costumes.
Hercules’ 1st Annual Halloween Party with a costume contest is on Saturday, Oct 26, at 8 p.m. to midnight. DJ Chris Dionne spins the tunes from 9:00PM until closing.
The Tavern On Main, 1157 Putnam Pike, Chepachet, RI, hosts a Paranormal Investigation Dinner “Dining with the Dead” with authors Thomas D’Agostino and Arlene Nicholson on Monday, October 28. Dinner and door prizes included. Cash Bar.

At Jesse Smith Library in Burrillville in the community room on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 6 p.m., Burrillville Historical & Preservation Society’s Betty Mencucci will present “Stories from the Grave,” an exploration of gravestones and their hidden stories.
“The Conjuring” Watch Party of the famous horror film of that title is scheduled at The Conjuring House at 1677 Round Top Road in Burrillville on Wednesday, Oct. 30, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Meet Andrea Perron, author of “House of Darkness/House of Light,” who is the eldest daughter of the family whose experience living in the house inspired the popular horror film.
Hill’s Tavern & Grill at 417 Putnam Pike in Chepachet is dishing up a Halloween Family Dinner Deal on Thursday, Oct. 31, from 5 to 7 p.m. The restaurant is offering a free cheese pizza for children for the customers who order two entrees. Dine in only.
Uncle Ronnie’s Red Tavern at 2692 Victory Highway in Burrillville will have Halloween Music Bingo on Thursday, Oct. 31 starting at 7:30 p.m. Compete for the chance to win a trick or treat bag.
