NORTH SMITHFIELD – North Smithfield town administrator candidate Scott Gibbs noted this week that as campaign season draws to a close, he can proudly say that he has kept his word to voters.
“When announcing my candidacy for North Smithfield Town Administrator, I made several statements that would serve as the foundation to my campaign,” said Gibbs. “I clearly stated that my focus would be to help mend the divide that afflicts our community by using my deep and expansive leadership and professional experience to build trust and collaboration with the Town Council, and to reposition North Smithfield Town Hall as the recognized leader in Rhode Island. I also was very clear that I would not take what has become the typical political tactic of discrediting my opponent, and I would be very clear and detailed about my ideas.”
“As we enter the end of this election, I am proud to say that I have remained true to all my commitments,” Gibbs said. “I have met with individuals of all political persuasions, and the diversity of support shows in the locations of my yard signs. I have been extremely upfront with my thoughts, ideas, and opinions on a variety of topics, even when some topics can be perceived as contentious. Most importantly, I have not made one comment directed towards my opponent designed to discredit her candidacy. Disparaging others does not align with my beliefs and the need to create a welcoming environment for discussion and collaboration. I have run my campaign focusing on the most important issue, my demonstrated, applicable qualifications to be your Town Administrator.”
“My campaign has been one of transparency and integrity to my principles,” Gibbs said. “You can be sure that if elected, I will serve as your Town Administrator in a manner that will make you proud.”
“This is my word and my word means everything. I ask for your vote; a vote for a new era in North Smithfield.”

Who cares why he filed for council initially.
He has the right to switch for whatever he wants run for! Naysayers why did he switch?
Smoking gun? Didn’t think so…
I met Scott Gibbs in 1986. Since that time Scott has shown proven leadership and management skills that have benefited many directly and indirectly. Through Scott’s vision many high paying jobs have been created in Northern Rhode Island.
I strongly believe this is a once in a lifetime chance for North Smithfield to have a true and dedicated leader as Town Administrator. Scott’s integrity, knowledge and education qualifies him to meld town leadership, residents and growth simultaneously. North Smithfield residents deserve leadership without divisiveness.
Scott needs your vote to accomplish town goals for the betterment of the town as a whole. You, your children and grandkids deserve true leadership in order to move forward.
I encourage you to vote for Scott Gibbs and let him prove to you that he is the person who can lead North Smithfield with cohesive collaboration and integrity.
I agree, I think it’s important for Mr. Gibbs to explain to his constituents why he initially filed for town council and then switched to run for town administrator. I believe if somebody is going to cast a vote for him, they should understand this. Especially since he states over and over and over and over again about how qualified he is for the town administrator role. Please answer the question Claire….
Mr. Gibbs, please respond. Why did you file for Town Council and change your mind 2 days later to Town Administrator? Why will you not answer the question and put this to bed?
I do believe you to be a man of your word and that’s one of the most important traits for an elected official to have in my mind. Hopefully many other NS voters feel the same. I’ve taken the time to read your platform on the website and I congratulate you for offering such a detailed platform. It’s not often that a candidate takes the time to spell out everything in such detail. Many candidates seem to be afraid that one simple sentence could cost them a vote, so we’re left to guess where they stand on the issues. You’ve made it very clear what you will and won’t do, and what you stand for. After reading this release, I’m certain you’d be the right person for the job. God luck!
