Fill-a-Cruiser, Fall Festival: Six things to know in Glocester this week

The Glocester Business Association shared this photo of John Luszcz, director of Glocester Human Services, accepting food donations and a check from the organization's Trick or Treat on Main Street event. Movie matinee

Glocester Manton Library at 1137 Putnam Pike will host a movie matinee on Tuesday, Oct. 29, with Unsung Heroes showing at 2 p.m. The library will show the free new release on the big screen and offer light refreshments. No registration is required.

Player of the Week

Congratulations to Ponaganset High School quarterback Robbie Grenga on being named Providence Journal’s High School Football Player of the Week last week. Grenga’s recognition came following a win over Rogers where the PHS senior threw three touchdowns. The Division III team was having an undefeated season prior to a loss over the weekend to Classical.

Halloween night

Hill’s Tavern Hill’s Tavern & Grill at 417 Putnam Pike in Chepachet has a little something for everyone on Halloween night – Thursday, Oct. 31 – with a family dinner deal offering a free cheese pizza for children for the customers who order two entrees from 5 to 7 p.m. Starting at 7:30 p.m., the business will offer s’mores, Halloween-themed movies, cocktails and private Tarot card readings in the dining room. Card readings with Jasmin Roy cost $20 per person for a 10-15 minute session.

Fall festival

Glad Tiding Community Church at 111 Victory Highway Chepachet will hold its annual Fall Festival on Saturday, Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., to feature vendors, food trucks, family photos, monster trucks, horse & carriage rides, and more. This year’s event will include a pie bake off with prizes for first and second place. Participants are asked to register here and the entry fee is $20.

Fill-a-Cruiser

Dino’s Park & Shop at 1020 Putnam Pike will host Fill-a-Cruiser with the Glocester Police Department on Sunday, Nov. 3 from 9 a.m. to noon, collecting items for the Glocester Food Pantry. Help fill cruisers with non-perishable food items. GPD filled five cruisers last year and aim to beat the record. Food items can also be dropped off at the police station any time prior to the event.

Town meetings

The Glocester School Committee will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 29 starting at 6 p.m. in the library of Ponaganset High School at 137 Anan Wade Road. The agenda is here.
