It is often stated that we fail to get the best people to seek public office, but there are occasions when it happens. In this election North Smithfield, voters have the opportunity to cast a vote for a Town Administrator candidate who is eminently qualified by experience, education, character, and attitude. I believe that candidate is Scott Gibbs.

His advanced degrees in planning and in business administration are notable, but it is Scott’s acumen for collaborating with people to get wonderful things done that should interest all. Anyone who has met Scott as a fellow resident or as a businessperson knows he is a person of conviction and standards. If you have ever had a conversation with Scott, you know he listens to learn and can accept promising ideas.

Many think the outcome of this election is important to bringing our town together.   I point to the way Scott has managed this campaign as a splendid example of how I believe he will serve.  Every comment he has made has provided thoughtful and detailed insight for moving us forward without a word of denigration toward anyone.

Having served two terms as North Smithfield’s Town Administrator I know the challenges of the job.  I could not be more certain that every resident of North Smithfield would be fortunate to have Scott serve in that position.  This is one of those occasions when we have an eminently qualified candidate.  That Town Administrator candidate is Scott Gibbs.

Gary S. Ezovski

  1. I’ve spoken with Scott and I’m comfortable with every answer he’s given me. There’s no question in my mind that he intends on keeping the tax rate affordable for everyone. I agree that Gary and his big spender friends will be pushing for everything under the sun but I don’t see Scott selling the townspeople out, just to make Gary and his friends happy. Scott and Gary are two very different people.

  2. Scott Gibbs for Town Administrator is his own man. I’m heard him disagree with Ezovski recently and I’m sure it won’t be the last time he disagrees with him. Suggesting that Gary will get whatever he wants is no more than a rumor perpetuated by his opponent’s supporters to frighten people.

    • Actually Michael it’s his list of donors, their ties and their agenda is what frightens people. Don’t you have the same concerns and accusations about donations to certain town council candidates?

      • Actually, I’m far more concerned with candidates who don’t reveal who made the donations, even when you ask them that question. John Beauregard received over $4,600 from unnamed individuals and Joey Sevigny received a significant chunk in the thousands as well. Scott was asked about the donations he received from his donors and his answer satisfied my concerns. If you can get Joey or John to disclose their donor list and their respective donations, please do!

        • What campaign violations did Mr. Beauregard and Mr. Sevigny violate? This article is about mr gibbs. You can’t help yourself with how obsessed you are with John Beauregard!

          • Your comment was ” Actually Michael it’s his list of donors, their ties and their agenda is what frightens people. Don’t you have the same concerns and accusations about donations to certain town council candidates?” You asked, I answered. Regarding your new question, since Joey and John didn’t disclose who their donors were, it’s impossible to determine what campaign donations may have been violated. Like I said in my reply, I’m far more concerned about candidates who don’t disclose who their donors are, particularly when said candidates claim they’re honest, ethical and concerned with appearances.

            • Again Michael, which campaign finance laws did both violate ? This obsession needs to end on your part. Your little debate stunt blew up in your face when John took the high ground and offered to split the donation with you. You still couldn’t let it go, you still tried to one up him. Did you honestly think a current elected official and also candidate for re-election would “debate” you? Why didn’t you ask any other candidates? John Beauregard Derangement Syndrome is a real thing!

              • You say he took the high ground and I say he was just too chicken to debate. Sure he had his pit bulls bark on his behalf, but reading those comments, it appeared to me that I’m not the only one who thought it was cowardly of John not to debate a town resident who he calls a liar. I know you like to repeat your question to subliminally suggest that I didn’t reply to it, but I think even the simplest mind will recognize that I did reply. It was direct, logical and clear. Finally, I didn’t ask him to subsidize my donation to the food bank. He made that move simply to buy his way out of debating. Unfortunately, I can’t reveal who you really are JP because if I do my response won’t get posted. I will however identify you on my fb page again when the time is right. You’re very bold when your identity is protected. It’s a shame you can’t be as bold when your identity is known.

            • I’m not the one who created a secret club and named it “CliffsNuts” to focus attention on me. Now who was it that started that club, oh yea it was you John Beauregard. You look kind of silly saying I’m the one who can’t help myself.

          • RI G.L. §17-25-11, and RI G.L. §17-25-7. All names, addresses, amounts over $100.00 in one given calendar yr, and place of employment.
So if not reported in full, yes, in violation of the RI and National State Legislature, rules on contributions.

              • Then you know what you have to do…..lol. What with those thousands you supposedly snuck by….otherwise you may just be audited…..if someone makes a tel call, or email to the BOE.

                • I think you may have misunderstood Ms. Q. John is saying he has met the requirement and has filed a finance report showing aggregate contributions totaling $4,690 – in other words, many contributions for less than $200 each. Mike feels John should reveal the donors beyond what’s required by the state law.
Not weighing in – just clarifying the discussion for those who might not understand!~

                  • Oh I understand. I was just having cynical fun on this OCD behavior.
If someone is so adamant on trying to prove John hid contributions, the info is there, John knows what is required, then file a complaint if you’re sure John is in violation. Get it done already and put it to rest. Between the debate debacle and supposedly hidden contributions, the situations need to have merit or be quiet once and for all. This back and forth is ridiculous.

        • Yes donations are important, esp when Gibbs made contributions in the past to Lisa Baldelli-Hunt who turned out to be a nightmare for Woonsocket! Lol.

        • Have you been on the RI ERTS website and looked at the scanned docs of contributors? Would you be surprised to see Gary Ezovski was a contributor to Gibbs? All,of Holliston Sand Co, inc their atty?
I would now be very concerned. Big business……

          • Yes I have. Would you be surprised to know that John Beauregard’s campaign signs are on Gary Ezovski’s property and people affiliated with Holliston Sand and Gravel have signs up for John as well. That’s my point, at least Gibbs listed them as donors and has explained his ties to the donors, but the other candidates seem to feel it’s best to hide the names of their donors. John is extremely close to those individuals and privately he boasted about who his large donors are. We’ve already seen how he sold out the town for the benefit his past benefactors in the solar industry. I have much more faith in Gibbs than I do in John and company.

            • Well if he has already bragged about who his large donors are, and you found out they were large donors, then you know or have a good idea who, seeing his signs are on their property too. That would be enough for me. Let it go. You are driving yourself crazy not being able to control him, or by not knowing every little thing he does.

    • Mike I think you are wrong on this one. Gary and his crew of spenders will be expecting big infrastructure spending if Scott is elected. A new police station or even a more expensive public safety complex will be on the agenda along with major upgrades to the water infrastructure that will be paid by all taxpayers whether or not they have water. Scott may disagree with Gary and his crew at times but Scott leans towards their thinking and big ticket spend ways.

  3. I don’t think Scott has realized what Gary and his crew have gotten him into. His private sector job seems to be a much better choice vs the town admin role. Have to really wonder why ??? Like you said Mr. Grubb, look at his list of donors.

  4. Lest we forget the wisdom of Gary Ezovski who helped cause the long debacle with the police station….

“The town had plans to renovate the facility with the help of a $12 million bond approved by voters in 2014. But those plans were ultimately halted by detractors of the project, who said that the budget was inadequate for the work needed.
The building, known as the Annex, has been at the center of ongoing political disputes regarding how the voter-approved bond money should be spent, with officials who worked on the original project saying that up to this point, the town has failed to satisfy a voter mandate.
But Ezovski this week repeated his assessment that short-term repairs to the facility would be a waste of money.
“Any additional investment in this building is, at best, (a) good enough measure,” Ezovski said, calling efforts to complete repairs that will stretch the life of the structure a, “Halliwell-like decision.”
“We’re looking at knocking that building down,” Ezovski said of that former school. “I don’t want to be part of making another Halliwell-type discussion.”
