NORTH SMITHFIELD – With Election Day approaching, North Smithfield School Committee candidate Chris Simpkins laid out his qualifications, experience, and community involvement.
“Professionally, I spent the first decade of my career working in the education sector,” Simpkins said. “I began at the Rhode Island Student Loan Authority, where I modernized the student loan application process and launched RIScholarships.com, which has since connected tens of thousands of local students with essential college funding.”
“From there, I moved into education tech consulting, working directly with Boston-area colleges to streamline admissions and student systems,” Simpkins said. “For the last 12 years, I’ve served as Chief Product Architect in an executive role at Latitude Research, leading an international team whose success has driven a 600 percent increase in our company’s revenue.”
“As vice chairman of the Halliwell Review Committee, I championed a transparent, community-focused discovery process alongside Chairman Jeff Porter. Our committee’s work was instrumental in securing the $4 million federal grant for a new community center—an outcome I’m incredibly proud to have been a part of.”
“My wife, Dee, and I have proudly raised our two boys here in North Smithfield, where they attend public schools and are active in Troop 1139 Slatersville, working toward their Eagle Scout ranks,” he continued. “From the moment we moved here, our family has embraced and contributed to this community, including nearly tripling Scout membership in Pack 7 Slatersville during our time in leadership.”
“I’m running for the North Smithfield School Committee to bring that same dedication to public service and data-driven decision making to our schools. I’m committed to helping our students thrive and ensuring they have every opportunity for success.”
“I hope you’ll consider casting a vote for both me and Jean Meo on Tuesday, November 5,” said Simpkins.
In doing my research on this candidate, he is not one that should be on the school committee. Running for a political office and his picture on his FB is him and an unsafe object that promotes violence. If I had children in the schools, this is not a candidate I would want sitting there representing the schools.
