BURRILLVILLE – The holiday season is here and there are a few messages that we need to convey to children in an attempt to help keep them fire safe in apartments and homes over the coming weeks.
Holiday decorations, candles and Christmas trees can be hazardous this time of year. This Fearless Dino Protector Squad holiday themed fire safety coloring cartoon lists a variety of fire safety and burn prevention messages for little kids. Unfortunately, the holiday season is one of the most hazardous times of the year for residential fires and tragedies every year. Thanksgiving family gatherings create circumstances that can cause potential burn injuries caused by hot stoves, pots and pans, and cooking in apartments and homes nationwide each year.
Kids should stay at least three feet away from hot stoves. Kids should never play with fire. Families should have 2 ways out in case of a fire. Drop low and go under smoke filled rooms. Get out and stay out once you are out. Have a safe meeting place and call “911” in case of fire.
Fire safety and burn prevention starts in the home during anytime of the year but the holiday season is especially busy for firefighters and first responders annually. Please make copies of this Sunday feature and discuss fire safety and burn prevention with children. It could help save a life.
Happy Holidays and make it a safe holiday season.
