Retirement

The Glocester Business Association presented a certificate of appreciation this week to Tavern on Main owner and executive chef Dave Lumnah during their monthly meeting, thanking him and his family for their dedicated hospitality over the last 18 years. Lumnah is retiring from the business at 1157 Putnam Pike.

Wreath making

The Farm at 463 Tourtellot Hill Road will host its fourth season of wreath making workshops beginning on Saturday, Nov. 23 with events running through Sunday, Dec. 1. Create a one of a kind wreath from all local materials with a live demonstration and help with questions.

Tickets cost $45 and include all materials, a warm holiday beverage and one baked good. Reserve your date and time by visiting https://thefarminri.com/shop/.

Toys for Tots

Auto Body Concepts at 44 Terry Lane has begun the annual collection of Toys for Tots. Help the less fortunate this holiday season by donating a new, unwrapped toy at the business – and Auto Body Concepts will match every donation. Toys can be dropped off during business hours Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Bags of Hope

Several Glocester businesses and organization are now supporting Bags of Hope including Assados Kitchen & Bar, Trish Hampton St Onge, The Hen House, Glad Tidings Community Church and Healing in Harmony Wellness Center. Purchase an ornament this holiday season to benefit a child in the foster care system. Each ornament sold will allow the organization to purchase a monogramed duffle bag to replace a trash bag used to hold a child’s belongings.

Red flag Warning continues

The Chepachet Fire Department is reminding residents that there is a red flag warning in effect and there should be no outdoor burning in town. Glocester fore companies have recently responded to several illegal burns and brush fires.

Sponsors needed

Organizers noted this week that sponsors are still needed for Candlelight Shopping, with funds to pay for expenses such as buses and carolers. The event will be held on Thursday nights in December from 5 to 9 p.m. and Chepachet businesses are asked to consider one of four sponsorship levels including “Participant” at $150, “Bronze Candles” at $100-$175, “Silver Bells” at $200-$375 or “Gold Stars” at $400-$500.

Checks can be made out to “Candlelight Shopping” and dropped off at The Town Trader, Brown & Hopkins, Trish Hampton, or the Hen House.
