BURRILLVILLE – Thanksgiving is a very busy family holiday and it’s very important to remember that hot stoves can be dangerous and hazardous for little kids.
Kids need to stay at least three feet away from hot stoves while an adult is cooking Thanksgiving dinner. Pot and pan handles should be turned in towards the stove and not extended beyond the top of the stove where little hands can grab them. Children have a tendency to watch and copy what older siblings and adults do during the course of the day. Watching someone handling cooking items and foods on a hot stove can put a child in harm’s way. Ovens baking turkeys and other Thanksgiving meal courses become very hot, and even the slightest touch by little fingers and hands can cause severe burns. Keeping kids at least three feet away from hot stoves helps prevent unintentional burns and injuries.
