Inauguration, season endings & honor roll: Seven things to know in North Smithfield this week

Holiday hours

Town Hall will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28 and Friday, Nov. 29 for celebration of the Thanksgiving holiday, and trash and recycling will not be picked up on Thursday, Nov. 28. Thursday and Friday’s collection will both take place on Friday, Nov. 29.

There will be no yard waste pick up on Saturday, Nov. 30.

Last day of the season

Goodwin Brothers Farm Stand at 458 Greenville Road will hold its last day of the season today, Monday, Nov. 25 with hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. All remaining perishable items will be offered at half off.

The farm thanked customers this week for a great 2024 season.

Zoning survey

The town of North Smithfield is currently updating its zoning ordinance and subdivision regulations with assistance from the RI Housing MPTA Program as required under new state law. The town has put out a survey to gather input from the community on their level of familiarity with zoning laws and is asking residents to complete the brief questionnaire here.

Final car cruise

The Beef Barn Restaurant at 200 Industrial Drive will host its final car cruise on the season on Saturday, Nov. 30 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is open to the public with no entry fee.

The rain date for the event is Sunday, Dec. 1.

Inauguration

The inauguration of newly elected town officials will take place on Sunday, Dec. 1 starting at 7 p.m. at North Smithfield High School at 412 Greenville Road. The public is invited to attend the ceremony, with swearing in to be performed by retired Major Gen. Reginald Centraccio.
