Co-ed basketball
The Glocester Recreation Department’s co-ed adult basketball league begins this week with game play starting on Wednesday, Nov. 27. The pickup league, for Glocester residents who are past high school age, will play once a week from 7 to 9 p.m. at Ponaganset High School at 137 Anan Wade Road. Thanksgiving Day
Most town businesses will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28, as locals gather with friends and family to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday. Add some local charm to your spread with a stop at Who Cut the Cheesecake, Mulberry Vineyards, open noon to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, or Christine’s Cottage Florist for a centerpiece or bouquet.
Trees on Main
Candlelight Shopping in Chepachet kicks off next week but one attraction – a friendly competition – will start in advance on Small Business Saturday. Businesses participating in Candlelight Shopping events that start next week will be decorating a pallet tree for displays in front of their shop and each will have a QR code to be voted on by the public. The voting will close on December 31 and the winner will be announced on January 1.
Stuff-a-Bus
Stop by Reichert & Sons Fuel Oil at 12 Money Hill Road in Chepachet with a new unwrapped toy anytime between Sunday, Dec. 1 and Thursday, Dec. 12 to help stuff a DATTCO bus to benefit the Toys for Tots program. The business will be collecting toys to help provide Christmas to local children in need.
Christmas Carols of Southern Europe
Music at the Meeting House will present Holy is the Night: The Christmas Carols of Southern Europe on Sunday, Dec. 1, with a concert starting at 2:30 p.m. at the Chepchet Meeting House at 1213 Putnam Pike. The show will feature soloists and bell ringers, trumpet, a
French horn quartet and Congregational singing of familiar carols. Refreshments will follow with a free will offering requested.
