MANVILLE – Two years after opening their first brick and mortar restaurant, Tony and Misty Soly have outgrown the space and soon, the couple will close up shop with plans to start 2025 at a new location.

Your Mother’s Favorite Breakfast Place will close its location at 533 Weeden St. in Pawtucket by Monday, Dec. 23, moving to another former restaurant space in Manville that will offer triple the capacity.

The business plans to reopen at the start of the new year at 29 Winter St., the former home of Lil & Gene’s Family Restaurant, renting the first floor of the building featuring 1,453 square feet of space. The move will bring Your Mother’s capacity from 24 seats up to 70, with head chef Tony’s grill size increasing from two square feet to 28.

A former engineer, Tony left the corporate world in 2020 to pursue his dream of cooking with the opening of Sunnyside on the Street food truck. The food truck did well, but the nature of business “on the street” made income dependent on weather and after several years, the Solys considered another change in direction. After an initial plan to open a permanent space inside Bravo Brewing Company in Pascoag fell through, family sold the truck to make way for their next pursuit.

“While the truck was successful, going into winter without steady revenue we made a decision to see if our truck’s success would carry over to a storefront,” Tony said.

The North Smithfield couple opened Your Mother’s in January of 2023 and quickly became a Pawtucket staple, with recent months seeing seating at capacity, especially on weekends, and wait times for hungry patrons. Tony, a Woodlawn native, said he saw the city restaurant as a homecoming, and the family became ingrained in the Pawtucket neighborhood.

But that rental space will soon change ownership, making the upgrade to the new digs even more of a clear business decision. Misty said the Soly family frequented Lil & Gene’s, which occupied the space in Lincoln for some 58 years before closing its doors in 2016. Your Mother’s new home in a 2.25 story mixed use building on Winter Street is still owned by the Dumas Family Trust.

They’ll bring their entire staff with them, along with a menu that breakfast staples and unique items such as empanadas stuffed with eggs and cheese, and the Sunny Side Sandwich, which pairs a grilled cheese with a two egg omelette. Specials at Your Mother’s include items like the fried French toast flight, with three slices featuring three kinds of fresh fruit for $9.95.

“The menu will undergo some minor changes as we continue to focus on fresh foods with the freshest ingredients, while attempting to keep pricing affordable in a volatile market,” said Misty.

Misty noted that the larger kitchen will allow more creative additions to the daily menu, as well as an increased lunch menu.
