Chunky blankets & Mosaic stars

Join Art Box Studio for a special event at Hill’s Tavern & Grill at 417 Putnam Pike on Wednesday, Dec. 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. making unique light up star mosaics. Enjoy food and drinks while learning a new skill in the two-hour workshop. Using hand cut wood stars you will choose cut glass pieces and fit them on like a puzzle. No prior experience is needed. Tickets cost $40 and are available here.

Return to Hill’s on Sunday, Dec. 22 for chunky blanket finger knitting, a craft class to learn how to finger knit using thick “yarn” starting at 1:30 p.m.

Closed window

The Glocester Police Department is notifying residents that the dispatch window in the front lobby of the police station is temporarily closed for repairs of the office. The front lobby will remain open, but there will be no in-person services available. A telephone will be available in the lobby for those who need to communicate with the dispatcher who can assist visitors or arrange for a police officer to come to the lobby.

Access to the building will be restricted during the construction period, with completion of all repair work anticipated by early February.

“We appreciate your patience and understanding as we undertake these necessary improvements,” noted GPD.

Last Candlelight event

Thursday, Dec. 19 will be the last chance to catch Candlelight Shopping in Chepachet Village for 2024. Enjoy a bit of “Yankee hospitality,” while you shop, with local businesses decorated for the season and streets lit with antique lights. Stroll the village from 5 to 9 p.m. to the sounds of holiday music with guests to include carolers, witch dancers, musicians and more.

Christmas services

Glad Tidings Community Church at 111 Victory Highway will hold special Christmas services on Sunday, Dec. 22 at 9 and 11 a.m. All are welcome to attend.

  1. Glocester First Responders Christmas Parade is no good. Nobody lines up to spectate and just creates a traffic jam on 44 during a busy Friday evening before Christmas.
