Girls Winter Classic
The boys hockey teams matched up on last week and this week, the ladies will hit the ice at Levy Rink for the Northern Rhode Island Girls Winter Classic. Four teams will compete with games at noon and 1:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, Dec. 30 through Jan. 1. All proceeds will benefit the NRI Yeti Girls High School Hockey Co-op Team.
Feed the goats
As you take down those live Christmas trees this week, local farms are reminding everyone that discarded trees can make a tasty treat for farm animals. Stonehenge Farm at 63 Moroney Road is just one of the local farms currently accepting unsprayed greenery with all ornaments removed.
New Year’s Eve
Those looking to ring in the New Year on the town this week have some fun options for a night out on Tuesday, Dec. 31. Businesses hosting New Year’s Eve parties include Pascoag Cafe, which will have karaoke and a champagne toast; Toti’s Tavern, which will offer a free pasta bar, champagne and a DJ; and Dev’s Tavern, which will have live music with 3 Can Jam, food, champagne and more.
Holiday schedule
Town Hall will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 1 for New Year’s Day and there will be no trash or recycling pickup in Burrillville. Pickup will be delayed one day for the remainder of the week.
Utility merge
The Pascoag Utility District and the Harrisville Water District officially merge this week to form the new Clear River Electric & Water District. The new company’s first slate of officers will be chosen in an election at 253 Pascoag Main St. on Monday, Jan. 13 between the hours of 7 to 10 a.m. and 3 to 6 p.m. All CREW customers will be eligible to vote.

Line Dancing
Dance your way into 2025 on Friday, Jan. 3 when Get In Line RI returns to Toti’s Tavern at 8 Callahan School St. for monthly line dancing. Learn the steps and submit requests for a $10 admission.
