Stop the bleed
Registration is now open for a free program in March that aims to help teach town residents how to save a life. The North Smithfield Emergency Management Agency has announced that a Hands-Only CPR/AED & Stop the Bleed training will take place on Saturday, March 22 from 9 a.m. to noon at Scouter’s Hall. Reservation is required for the 2.5 hour life-saving program, open to the first 50 North Smithfield residents and employees at no cost. The program will be taught in accordance to the American Heart Association, the American College of Surgeons and the American Safety & Health Institute standards. Certificates will be awarded upon successful completion of the program.
When incidents such as cardiac arrest, chocking, and serious bleeding take place, most by-Standers want to help until professional care arrives. This program will aim to change by-standers into by-doers, thus giving the sick and injured a chance for a better outcome.
For reservations call Town Hall at (401) 767-2200 ext. 301 or for event questions call Richard Savaria at (401) 527-8959.
