Volunteers will gather at Mammoth Mill Park on Mill Street on Monday, Jan. 20 at 9 a.m. for an annual clean to honor the Martin Luther King Day with a traditional day of service. Locals have made progress transforming the area over the past three years to make the park and nearby Blackstone Canal visible and accessible to visitors.

Last year, the first of three planned historical markers was installed at the park. In November, the Blackstone Valley Heritage Corridor completed the viaduct section of the nearby bike path linking the North Smithfield and Woonsocket segment to the Blackstone, Millville, and Uxbridge segment and soon, a fourth planned wayfarer marker at the Meadows Sports Complex will direct bike path users to the Mammoth Mill Park and Blackstone Canal, according to Richard Keene, president of the North Smithfield Heritage Association.

The public is invited to join in the effort to clean and beautify the facility.
