Chair yoga, final screening & car seat installation: Six things to know in North Smithfield this week

Relax at the library

North Smithfield Public Library will host an evening meditation on Monday, Jan. 27 starting at 6:30 p.m., with visitors invited to relax and destress from the chaos of the New Year with Mary Scannell.

Next Monday, Feb. 3 the library will host chair yoga starting at 6:30 p.m. led by Natalie Gatta. The yoga class is suitable for all fitness levels.

Last call for Hoops

There is still time to register for the N.S. Hoops Winter Clinics with sessions for players in grades K-3 set to begin on Saturday, March 1. The North Smithfield Parks & Recreation program will run on Saturdays March and participants are asked to register here.

Fundraiser

Visit Texas Roadhouse at 39 Dowling Village Blvd. on Thursday, Jan. 30 from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. to help support the North Smithfield High School Class of 2027. Present the flyer found here to donate 15 percent of your purchase on dine in or to go meals.

Final screening

The final public screening this month of episodes from the documentary series Slatersville, America’s First Mill Village will take place at Slatersville Congregational Church at 25 Green St. on Friday, Jan. 31. Episode 8, The Power of Nostalgia will be played, with doors to open at 7 p.m. and the showing at 7:30 p.m. followed by a filmmaker panel Q & A. A free will offering will be accepted at the door. Car seat installation

The North Smithfield Police Department at 575 Smithfield Road is now offering car seat installation by appointment. For more information, residents are asked to email [email protected] or [email protected].

Town meetings

The Asset Management Commission will hold a meeting on Monday, Jan. 27 starting at 6:30 p.m. at the North Smithfield police station at 575 Smithfield Road. The agenda is here.

The Historic District Commission will hold a meeting on Monday, Jan. 27 starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Memorial Town Building at 1 Main St. The agenda is here.
