
Open Gaming Night
The Burrillville Prevention Action Coalition will host an Open Gaming Night on Friday, Feb. 7 from 5 to 8 p.m.at Jesse Smith Memorial Library at 100 Tinkham Lane. The event is open to youth in grades 6 through 12 and has a strict “no in and out” policy.

Basic Life Support
The Burrillville Parks & Recreation Department has announced upcoming Basic Life Support classes, to be presented by Ocean State Educational Seminars, Inc. Heartsaver CPR & AED training will be held on Saturday, Feb. 22 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. First Aid training will be held Saturday, March 29 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Both classes cost $40 and will be held at Beckwith-Bruckshaw Lodge at 50 Lodge Road. Registration is on a first come/first served by texting your name and class choice(s) to (401) 651-5777. You will receive your confirmation, directions and payment instruction by text
response. The registration deadlines are February 18 and March 25.
Fiddle N’Fun
Jesse Smith Library at 100 Tinkham Lane will host Fiddle N’Fun in the community room starting at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8. Mr. Joel will get kids moving with songs, movement and instrument playing. During the hands-on program, children explore playing Fiddlestix, a single-stringed instrument and “bow” that has been proven to prepare young players for learning the violin. The program is best for kids age 3 – 8 with an adult caregiver.

Valentine’s Dinner Dance
The Burrillville Lions Club & Knights of Columbus Pascoag Council 383 will host their 8th annual Valentines Dinner Dance on Sunday, Feb. 9 from noon to 5 p.m. at Bella Restaurant at 1992 Victory Highway. The event costs $40 per person and includes social hour starting at noon, with dinner to be served at 1 p.m., followed by music, dancing and raffles. All proceeds from the event benefit local charities.

The Burrillville Planning Board will hold a meeting on Monday, Feb. 3 starting at 7 p.m. at Jesse Smith Library at 100 Tinkham Lane. The agenda is here.

Dean’s list
An honorable mention “thing to know” this week goes to Caroline Rhodes for making the Dean’s list at the University of New England. Rhodes is a first year student studying biological sciences, a starter on the women’s rugby team and a volunteer firefighter at Harrisville Fire Department.
