Class of 2028 fundraiser

The Ponaganset High School Class of 2028 will hold a fundraiser on Tuesday, March 4 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Chipotle at 473 Putnam Pike in Greenville. The class will receive 25 percent of all sales. Those who order online should use code WKNLEWW.

Flower workshop

The Stem Bar at 6 Money Hill Road will host a Flower Arrangement Workshop on Saturday, March 8 starting at 4 p.m., with a demonstration followed by creation of an arrangement that participants can take home, with all tools and flowers provided. The cost to attend is $75 with sign ups available here.

Wine tasting

Glocester Little League will hold a wine tasting fundraiser event on Sunday, March 9 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Assados Kitchen & Bar at 102 Putnam Pike. All are invited to attend, with wine provided by Kitson’s Liquors.

Ocean State Star Award nominations

Student actors in Ponaganset High School’s recent performance of Grease have been nominated for Ocean State Star Awards, part of the Providence Performing Arts Center’s Education initiative, which recognizes, honors, and encourages excellence in all aspects of musical theater performance and production among area high schools. Musicals of participating schools are reviewed by a panel of educators, theater experts, and industry professionals. Based on tabulations, productions and individual performances, students receive awards at a ceremony that is held each year at PPAC in late spring. One male and one female Ocean State Star Awards winner will represent the state of Rhode Island in the National High School Musical Theatre Awards competition held in New York City at the end of June.

Robotics support

The Ponaganset High School robotics team is collecting clothes, books and household items in a fundraising effort. Items accepted include men’s, women’s, & children’s clothes, coats, shoes, scarves, handbags, wallets, fashion accessories, belts and backpacks; household textiles such as bedding, comforters, blankets, sheets, towels, linen, tablecloths, curtains and pillows; books and media such as CDs and DVDs; and small household goods such as pots, pans, silverware, dishes and glasses. No encyclopedias or text books will be accepted.

A drop off event will be held on Sunday, March 23 at Penny Lane Hair Salon at 838 Putnam Pike. Those who cannot make the drop off date can contact Deb Bond at (401) 757-9177 or [email protected] to arrange pickup.

Town meetings

The Glocester School Committee will hold a meeting on Tuesday, March 4 in the library of Ponaganset High School at 137 Anan Wade Road, with executive session at 5:30 p.m. followed by open session at 6 p.m. The agenda is here. The gathering will be followed by a meeting of Foster-Glocester Regional School Committee starting at 7 p.m. for an agenda found here.

The Glocester Planning Board meeting originally scheduled for Tuesday, March 4 has been cancelled.
