GLOCESTER – No one was injured in a fire Tuesday morning that damaged the roof of a home on Putnam Pike.
West Glocester firefighters responded to a call from a neighbor reporting smoke coming from the roof around 7:40 a.m. on Tuesday, March 4, according to reports.
Mutual aid, including departments from Chepachet, Harmony, East Putnam, South Foster, Smithfield and Pascoag, were called in to fight the blaze, containing the majority of the damage to the attic, where there was a wood stove chimney. With no hydrants in the area, responders had to rely on tankers and hand lines.
The Rhode Island Fire Marshal’s Office is reportedly investigating the cause of the fire.
