BURRILLVILLE – With the month of March underway and milder temperatures arriving this week, it’s a great time to remind kids about bike safety.
The Bus Stop Kids want kids to always wear a bike helmet when riding on bikes this spring. Helmets protect your brain from impact damage that can be caused by a sudden and unexpected fall off a bike. Wearing protective gear such as elbow pads and knee pads keeps you safer while riding bikes too.
Be safe. Stay off busy roads and streets. Avoid busy parking lots. Bike safety begins with you!

Jim Weicherding is a Burrillville resident, and the founder and creator of an award-winning traffic safety effort Seasons of Safety. Weicherding contributes kids’ coloring cartoons, which can be printed and used to help parents discuss safety issues with their children. He has a long list of police officers and firefighters in his family and has worked with law enforcement and firefighters in a creative public safety capacity for more than two decades.
I know you mean well…but, have you seen the kids on bikes?
