SELAC
The North Smithfield Special Education Local Advisory Committee will hold its quarterly meeting on Tuesday, March 11 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the library of North Smithfield High School art 412 Greenville Road. Disability Rhode Island will be the featured guest speakers at the meeting, covering the topic of supported decision making as an alternative to guardianship. The meeting is open to all families in North Smithfield and is also available via zoom with instructions to attend found here.
Books project
North Smithfield High School Senior Alexia Lambert is collecting new and lightly used children’s books for her senior project to benefit Books Are Wings. Books appropriate for babies and children through grade 5 can be left in the main foyer’s at the high school, middle school or elementary school.
Lunar eclipse
A total lunar eclipse will be visible in northern Rhode Island on Thursday, March 13 – but cloudy weather could interfere with viewing. The “blood moon” eclipse will be the first full one since 2022 and the only one visible in the state in 2025.
The forecast is currently projecting cloudy skies.
Camp Sunshine
Texas Roadhouse at 39 Dowling Village Blvd. is collecting money for Camp Sunshine at Sebago Lake, an organization that benefits terminally ill children. The restaurant is now selling calendars for a chance to win prizes for $10, with the full cost to go to the group. Visit the restaurant to purchase yours.
