Reopen
The Rhode Island Department of Health has recommended reopening the swimming area at George Washington Campground. The latest update notes that bacteria counts at the beach have returned to safe levels.
RIDOH monitors and reviews beach water quality through Labor Day. A full list of closed beaches can be found here.

Hikes & hooves
The Rusty Buckle Petting Zoo at 138 Tourtellot Hill Road will host “Hikes & Hooves” on Wednesday, July 16 from 11 a.m. to noon, a chance to hike the farm with some of their mini horses. The hike will be an easy one through wooded trails with snack stops for the animals to graze. The event costs $10 per visitor and requires pre registration by sending a message to the business through their Facebook page.
Summer concert
The Glocester Recreation Department’s summer concert series continues this week, with Atwater Connelly on Wednesday, July 16. The free shows take place every Wednesday starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Kent Field Pavilion. Visitors are invited to bring blankets and chairs to enjoy the outdoor events.
Watch party
Mr. Z’s by the Lake at 2400 Putnam Pike will host a watch party on Saturday, July 19 when the Boston Red Sox take on the Chicago Cubs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Enjoy sampling Yuengling beers and exciting giveaways during the game.
Gooseberry Road
Gooseberry Road will perform on the deck at Assados Kitchen and Bar at 102 Putnam Pike on Wednesday, July 16 from 6 to 9 p.m.
On Sunday, June 20, the band will play at Mulberry Vineyards at 95 Pound Road with outdoor music on the lawn. Guests are invited to enjoy locally made wine and music in an outdoor setting from 1 to 4 p.m.
Yoga at the Winery
Speaking of the winery, Haven & Harmony is now hosting an outdoor yoga class at the vineyards every Sunday starting at 10 a.m. The class costs $22 for yoga and wine or $16 for yoga only, and will be moved into the barn in the case of rain. Visitors are advised to bring a mat, water, and a towel or blanket for extra comfort.

Town meetings
The Glocester Planning Board meeting originally scheduled for Tuesday, July 15 has been cancelled.
The Glocester Town Council is scheduled to hold a meeting on Thursday, July 17 starting at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall at 1145 Putnam Pike. The agenda will be posted 48 hours in advance on the Secretary of State’s website.
