Black Plain Road will kick off the town's summer concert series on Thursday

Quaker history

The North Smithfield Heritage Association will host the Carpenter Museum for an evening with noted Quaker historian Elizabeth Cazden to talk about the early Quaker History of King Philip’s Waron Wednesday, July 23 starting at 6:30 p.m. at Heritage Hall at 101 Green St. Learn how early RI Quakers tried to persuade Metacom not to go to war with the New England colonies at the free event, which is open to the public.

Blount night

Wright’s Dairy Farm & Bakery at 200 Woonsocket Hill Road will host Blount Food Truck on Wednesday, July 23 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Visitors are invited to stop in to visit the cows, and buy dinner and dessert.

Summer concert

The North Smithfield Parks & Recreation Department’s summer concert series kicks off this week with a performance by Black Plain Road on Thursday, July 24. The free concert will take place by the gazebo at Town Hall at 83 Green St. from 6 to 8 p.m. The series is sponsored by Navigant Credit Union.

Sober safe music

Slatersville Congregational Church at 25 Green St. will host an all ages live show starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 25 with Colt & The Coyotes Sanctuary Sounds. Snacks and soft drinks will be available for purchase at the sober safe event with a $10 cover charge.

More live music

The Plastic Palace at Lindy’s Tavern at 98 School St. will host Amber Rose on Saturday, July 26 starting at 8 p.m. On Sunday, July 27, catch Bruce Stoeckel starting at 3 p.m.

The music at The Island at 1600 Victory Highway, starts on Thursday this week, with Just Wingin’ It on July 24 from 6 to 9 p.m., and on Friday, July 25 they’ll host Northeast Groove from 7 to 10 p.m. The Dirty Old Men will play on Saturday from 7 to 10 p.m. and on Sunday, there will be a pitch tournament starting at 1 p.m., followed by Sean Ryan at 3 p.m.

Car show

The 11th annual Rev. William J. Frehill Council #5702 Show Off Your Ride car show will take place on Sunday, July 27 on the grounds of the Beef Barn Restaurant at 200 Industrial Drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Entry costs $10 with trophies to be awarded, and all proceeds to benefit the organization’s scholarship fund.

Town meetings

The North Smithfield Town Council will hold a meeting on Monday, July 21 starting at 6:45 p.m. at Town Hall at 83 Green St. The agenda is here.
